John Bonanno is a Managing Principal – Practice Advisor at Advanced Management Services, Inc. (AMS), a Global Management Consulting firm, practicing in the areas of Organizational Development Consulting, Professional Development Training, and Performance Coaching. AMS has been serving Fortune 100/500, Middle-Market, Emerging High-Growth, and Government clients since 1994.

As Managing Principal – Practice Advisor, John brings over three decades of experience in all aspects of education management, general management, consulting, business development, and marketing.  He has substantial M&A experience having successfully led four organizations through acquisitions.

Until its acquisition in 2022, John was the CEO of Maguire Associates, Inc., a research-based consulting firm that provided market research, analysis, and predictive modeling for educational institutions. At Maguire he substantially increased performance and positioned it for acquisition managing services delivery, research and development, business development, and finance. Prior to joining Maguire, John was president of ESM Digital, a digital marketing firm serving higher education.  At ESM he restructured the agency to better adapt to the constantly changing digital marketing landscape and to enhance client services; and implemented new systems and processes across the organization to improve operational efficiencies.

John also served as president of the Corporate Education Group (CEG) which is a provider of corporate training and consulting services. At CEG he developed the organization’s strategy to extend global reach as a premier training partner and consultant to Fortune 1000 organizations worldwide while expanding CEG’s portfolio of products and services to enable CEG’s clients to optimize their organizational performance.

Over a 20-year period, John held several positions at Boston University including Associate Dean and CEO of BU’s Corporate and Professional Programs, Director of Analytical Services, and Assistant Comptroller for General Accounting.  He is a recipient of the Boston University Graduate School of Management’s Distinguished Alumnus Award and for the BU programs he managed, Microsoft’s prestigious Worldwide Excellence in Training Award.  He received both his BA and MBA from Boston University.
