David possesses a profound understanding of executive-level operations across multiple industries, having worked and lived globally for most of his career.
David has conducted executive-level professional development training and consulting at Fortune 100/500 companies, taught communication and entrepreneurship at the university level, and provided mentorship and coaching to both startups and multinational corporations (MNCs). His decades-long career has been dedicated to driving business value creation and professional development within large-scale and global organizations.
From leading global PMOs and holding regional COO functions at Bank of America and Merrill Lynch, to building and managing a regional consulting arm at Amazon Web Services (AWS), David has extensive experience in technology creation, business execution, and the implementation of hardware, software, and services across high-end applications, cloud computing, AI, and more, in the US, Asia, and Europe.
David has also leveraged his background in cultural anthropology to specialize in working with various cultural norms across the APAC region, with a continuing focus on the unique environment of Japan. His understanding of Japanese cultural frameworks has been instrumental in directing onboarding of leaders and teams in Japan, coordinating diverse and distributed teams across the region, and guiding executive-level selection processes to support business scalability. David's expertise enables him to provide specific and actionable insights and coaching to executives, ensuring they navigate the complexities of cross-cultural interactions effectively.
During his tenure at AWS, David had business oversight responsibilities across the globe and APAC, including Japan. These experiences have given him a keen insight into how to balance corporate and local culture to drive business and operational success across the region. He has developed a unique perspective on how expatriates are integrated and has formulated effective strategies for coaching and guiding executives through cross-cultural career transitions. David's ability to bridge cultural gaps has been a key factor in his success in managing international teams and projects.
David's global experiences extend beyond Japan. He has worked extensively in Europe, where he led initiatives to integrate advanced technologies into business operations, and in the US, where he has been at the forefront of technological innovation and business strategy. His international exposure has equipped him with a comprehensive understanding of diverse business environments and cultural dynamics, making him a valuable asset in any global organization.
David holds a B.A. degree with Honors in Cultural Anthropology, with an emphasis on technology, from the University of California at Berkeley.
