Project Management Curriculum Design

Project Briefing

Scaling project management capability through global curriculum design and knowledge transfer.

We helped a top-tier Boston-based university design and deliver a global Project Management curriculum for its Corporate Education Center, expanding the center’s ability to serve a growing portfolio of Fortune 100 clients. The engagement created a multi-tiered certificate program, standardized delivery methods, facilitator certification, and internal best practices that strengthened both the university’s client-facing education offerings and its own project management operating discipline.

Client

A top-tier Boston-based university with a leading corporate education program offering certifications and professional development programs to a global portfolio of Fortune 100 clients.

Challenge

The client needed both core curriculum and operating best practices to satisfy an expanding client base and broader topical reach across Project Management, Business Analysis, and Process/Quality Management skill families. Existing offerings needed to be expanded, standardized, and connected to certificate-level learning pathways that could serve multiple corporate clients with different governance, compliance, and maturity requirements.

The university also needed delivery, design, and management practices that would support implementation at scale. Multiple clients required measurable results, standardized learning experiences, and governance controls to ensure quality and consistency across cohorts, facilitators, and delivery formats.

The challenge was to create a curriculum model that could be customized for corporate clients without losing instructional integrity. The Corporate Education Center needed a repeatable design and delivery process, a trained facilitator bench, a scalable learning management structure, and an internal project management methodology to maintain continuity as demand increased.

Solution

AMS partnered with multiple internal university resources to create a multi-tiered learning curriculum and best-practice model that addressed the major gaps in the center’s core offerings. The curriculum was designed to support certificate-level learning across project management and adjacent professional skill families, while allowing customization for different client environments and maturity levels.

AMS developed core learning offerings, practical course structures, delivery methods, and supporting materials that could be applied across onsite, virtual, university-based, and client-based environments. Once the curriculum was designed, AMS certified a team of facilitators to customize and deliver the content consistently across multiple platforms and global client locations.

The engagement also included close collaboration with the sales team, enabling client-facing representatives to communicate the value of the curriculum with stronger subject-matter credibility. This helped prospective clients understand not only the course content but also the methodology, governance structure, and implementation value behind the learning experience.

In parallel, AMS designed and consulted on the implementation of an internal Project Management Best Practice model for the Corporate Education Center. This included both lifecycle and methodology components to support curriculum maintenance, delivery continuity, quality control, project execution, and scalable growth. AMS also helped populate a Learning Management System to support program access, content management, client alignment, and consistent delivery across the university’s expanding corporate education portfolio.

Benefit

The Corporate Education Center expanded revenue by five times within the first 24 months of enabling the expanded curriculum. This growth demonstrated the strength of the curriculum architecture, the relevance of the offerings, and the market value of a standardized yet customizable corporate education model.

The engagement also strengthened the internal team’s ability to manage the increased volume of clients within a structured project management process. The center gained clearer measures of success, stronger delivery discipline, and a more reliable operating model for supporting multiple clients without compromising quality.

A talent onboarding baseline was created, allowing the center to scale with regional and global clients while maintaining consistency in facilitator readiness and delivery standards. The Learning Management System provided a common platform for content access, client alignment, and best-practice continuity, supporting both internal operations and client-facing learning experiences.

The university gained a stronger strategic growth platform for corporate education. By aligning curriculum design, facilitator certification, project management best practices, LMS infrastructure, and sales enablement, the center improved quality control, increased scalability, and strengthened its competitive position in the corporate education market.
