How It Works
Venue & Logistics
-
Choose an off-site venue that enhances immersion, such as a themed restaurant, historic venue, boutique hotel, or country club.
-
Ensure the event structure supports collaboration, whether for a small department or an entire organization.
-
Arrange seating and flow to allow smooth transitions between interrogations, clue reveals, and discussions.
-
Coordinate with venue staff on scheduling, catering, and technical needs for a seamless experience.
Theme
-
Select a theme that sets the tone, such as gambling, espionage, Sherlock-style detective work, or a Brit-box mystery.
-
Develop a script based on the theme, incorporating engaging characters and layered clues for deeper interaction.
-
Ensure the cast aligns with the narrative, integrating roles that encourage participant involvement and creative problem-solving.
-
Structure clue distribution strategically, keeping teams engaged while gradually revealing critical information.
Client Engagement
-
Collaborate with the client’s POC to identify key participants and assign engaging roles that enhance interaction.
-
Gather attendee details to create a “dirt sheet” with personal but lighthearted facts for detective-led interrogations.
-
Ensure character selections align with the mystery’s narrative while encouraging dynamic team involvement.
-
Use the gathered insights to enhance engagement, making interactions feel personalized and immersive.
Rehearsal
-
Conduct an initial read-through on Zoom to familiarize participants with roles and storyline flow.
-
Hold a final rehearsal at the venue two hours before the event to refine timing, entrances, and exits.
-
Outsource the detective and key actors to ensure engaging performances with minimal props and costumes.
-
Use rehearsals to build confidence, ensuring seamless execution and dynamic interactions during the event.
Working the Process
Once all attendees arrive, they will be seated at designated tables, forming teams responsible for solving the mystery together. For weekend-long events, teams remain consistent throughout the experience.
The host will serve as both emcee and facilitator, explaining the format, rules, and key elements of the mystery. They will also distribute solution forms, ensuring each team has a chance to document their findings.
As the event unfolds, a murder, or possibly more, will take place, followed by the emergence of clues and an interactive interrogation led by the detective. Guests will collaborate to piece together the narrative and identify the culprit.
At the conclusion, the host will collect the solution forms, tallying responses before the detective delivers a final summation, revealing the events, motives, and responsible party. The host will then announce the winning team, along with a lighthearted “booby prize” for added fun. Prize distribution remains at the client’s discretion.
